Cann River stands at the junction of the Monaro and Princes Highways. In the town, there is our Bush Nursing Centre, a police station, a small supermarket, a hotel and a couple of motels. There are two bakeries and a number of cafes, restaurants and coffee shops. There is also an ambulance dept. There are three fuel stations (including one 24hr unmanned automatic dispenser of diesel fuel only)
A doctor services the Bush Nurse Centre most Wednesdays, and appointments are necessary, by calling 03 5158 6210.
A dentist visits once a month; there is a massage therapist, drug and alcohol counselor and podiatrist also visiting regularly.
Heading west from Cann River, the first town is Orbost, which is 75 kms away.
Orbost has a main street with the usual shops and a good sized supermarket. There are facilities for car repairs in town. There are at least two fuel outlets.
